Disclaimer: I received two PostureNOW’s in order to facilitate this review, still all opinions are our own unless otherwise stated. Thanks for understanding.
It was a really stressful day when Max decided to rub at the spot between my shoulders at the base of my neck. He gasped “Oh wow, what’s happened to you?”
I sighed, just hunching forward a little more as I drove down the road, “I slouch pretty bad and it gets worse the more stress I’m under. I don’t even really care anymore…”
“You need to work on your posture babe, this is way worse than it’s ever been.”
Dang, I knew he was right, so I tried over the next few days to force myself into better posture ALL THE TIME. Which… backfired pretty spectacularly.
See in doing so, I was forcing my muscles to do something all day long that I hadn’t made them do in so so very long. After two days of doing that my back rebelled badly, I could hardly hold up my head and my muscles were spasming in severe anger at me. Walking was a joke, and I had to get prescription pain killers to help me through it.
There had to be a way to help my posture without attempting this agony day after day. Right?!
It was in my hours long search for a posture brace that didn’t just look like torturous shape wear that I came across the PostureNOW brace. It looked simple, it looked comfortable, and I could wear it for just 10-30 minutes a day and it would help? Score! PostureNOW was even on Shark Tank!
I was sent both the regular and Xlarge PostureNOW, to see which one would work better for me. As I wear above a size 16 dress, I tried the XLarge first. I had to tighten it all the way across the back for it to remind me to pull my shoulders back, but the arm cuffs fit pretty well.
I wore this originally with a thin strapped tank top and I didn’t like the feeling of the arm bands on my arms at all. Then again I have sensory processing disorder and certain textures and feelings I just cannot do. After 30 minutes I was glad to take it off thanks to that fact!
I also now realized that I pretty much sucked bad at those first two pictures, so here is another one..
I have no problems wearing this on top of a normal shirt, it helps me remember to keep my shoulders back and even if it’s just 30 minutes at a time, it is starting to help my muscles and brain remember to just do it automatically.
I am going to have Sisi try the regular size, IF we can get the approval from the folks at Shriners. I don’t know what they think as it stands as we haven’t gotten in yet to look at her recently discovered scoliosis and kyphoscoliosis.
I am definitely grateful for a gentle reminder support in getting myself better as far as my posture goes. I don’t know if I can ever really fix what my crummy posture has done all the way, but at least I can feel comfortable and hopefully have less overall pain and any further issues with my shoulders and base of my neck.
Do you have good posture? If not, what have you tried to help improve your current posture?
