In the end I sadly did not get to dress up on Halloween this year.
Next year though, I am going to get our costumes made elsewhere, so I can avoid the dress of making multiple costumes on top of everything else. My stress levels are already too high. :/
Our weather was cold and rainy, and I wussed out on going outside for ToTing. >.> So we went to a mall in the next city over since our mall is… pretty awful.
In the end, the Mall was… okay? A couple of girls recognized the kids characters, and took pictures!! I was so thrilled for that. <3
Sisi’s Amethyst Halloween costume was the easiest. She owned the leggings, wore one of my tanks, the boots are my moms. So it just took a large men’s shirt, makeup, wig and the gem I made. If we ever need to do characters who are colored again (Var was blue, Lisi red and bear purple!!) I need to get better quality brushes and I need a helper. This took awhile. I didn’t even end up coloring Var’s arms because I knew it’d rub off too easily.
I also couldn’t catch a good picture no matter what I tried. Someone was either looking down, away, or doing something funky with their face. Still… the kids enjoyed their costumes. 🙂
Risiel was Lion!! I put a TON of work into that mane. It’s yarn, that I then brushed our into fluffy fur using a cat hairbrush. There are five rows full of wefts that I put in and then worked out.
What you can’t really see is the custom made gems I made for Var and Lisi’s costumes. Var’s was attached to a glove, and Lisi’s was stuck to her hand using spirit gum. Sisi’s is on her chest, and Kat’s was the easiest as you can buy a flat back pearl cabochon for cheap!~!
I had to custom made Var, Lisi and Bear’s gems. Var and Lisi’s took three different tries at gems… while Sisi’s was the original attempt. It wasn’t perfect either, but I called it good and let myself worry about everything else.
In the end, I can’t wait to take them to a convention and let them wear their costumes there! <3
I bought a ton of candy the night before, so what we didn’t end up getting at the mall, we got at home. Lisi’s dad took all four of the oldest kids out to a late night Halloween movie and Ris went to bed. Whew. I survived another holiday!!
We’re already plotting next year, and even Aussie and I plan on dressing up!! <3
For the sapphire costume, what did you get and where did you get it? My daughter loves Sapphire and wants to be her for Halloween.
Hi Julie! I got the makeup, wig and gloves via Amazon. I borrowed the pettiskirt under the dress from my mom (which I think she got at Amazon?) I made the dress and gem myself. 🙂
