Konbanwa Minna-san! (Good evening everyone!)

I get to review another AWESOME Japanese candy service called Japanese Treats!

They are a very new service that sends out a box of Japanese candies every month (just about) anyplace in the world for $22 a month! Free shipping included of course. They add up to 15 Japanese candies at a time and I was really surprised with the wide assortment we got to try!

You can cancel any time you wish with no penalty, and it’s one of my new favorite boxes!!

As you know we love Japanese candy in this house, so having another box to explore was awesome. It just came right around when we went and got a bunch of things from Seattle, but we didn’t get almost everything that we got special from the box! So it was an extra awesome treat!

I took a picture of what we got, but in two different groups. It made it easier to go ahead and show things better.

Group 1:

I’ll put the reviews by the group too! I didn’t get a picture of the Disney chocolate filled treats out of package, sorry about that!

Disney Choco Filled Cookie:

Kisa – It’s like hello panda so it’s good.
Cid – Like chocolate Hello Panda. Small crisp circles with chocolate inside. Very lovely.
Lisi – Like Hello Panda, and I want it all! *Then ate it all*

Zoo Cracker:

Lisi – Doesn’t like it, the flavor isn’t very strong.
Risi – Enjoys these A LOT!~! So the rest of this package became hers.
Kisa –  Not bad for a little cracker! I think they’re perfect for Risi though!
Cid – Really good, but did not taste like a bear. (It was bear shaped!) They’re a very lightly salted cracker, really nice.

100_3648Chocolate Coated Bamboo Cookie:

These are a very basic cookie with chocolate on top. I thought it was a pinecone. They also have these as tree stumps and mushrooms that we’ve had before. Everyone liked them, of course, because we’ve had them before. I let the kids enjoy the little package!

Chokobi:

Risi – Ended up liking these a great deal, and ate most of the rest of the pack!
Kisa – I thought it was supposed to be chocolate, but it’s kind of a strange almost caramel corn flavor. Not really a fan of this one.
Var – “These taste like coffee to me, and I really like!”
Lisi – “Those cookies are goood.”
Kat – “Thse are pretty yummy but they srta taste like caramel corn.”
Sisi – “I love it!”
Cid – Vagely like some cereal. It’s really good.

photo 1 (3)Don Don Yaki:

These are a little saucy type cracker. Seasoned, like a frying sauce.

Cid – Like seasoned popcorn, pretty good, salty.
Kisa – “I do taste some saucy flavor, I like the crunch and the taste. I ate the rest of the package! YUMMY!”
Lisi – “Too spicy!”

Group Two!

Kyabetsu Taro (upper middle in main group picture)

Cid – “Yummy, nice blend of seasonings with a hint of octopus”
Kisa – Actually, pretty darn nice! I’m surprised. They smelled like Takoyaki, but I wasn’t so sure on the flavor. You knnow? They’re Octopus flavored corn puff chips.
Kat – “Mmm…. mmmm!” *grabs more and more* “mmm!” *ran off with the rest of the package.*
Lisi – “No good, at all.”
Var – “Kind of good.”
Sisi – “Yeah they’re gross!”

Grape Ju-C (Purple tube)

Kisa – A tablet candy, that is really … juicy! I’m surprised that I like it considering it’s grape and I don’t usually like grape or tablet candy. Sisi ended up getting the last bit of this tube, she liked it SO SO much!
Cid – “That is really good!”
Var – “That is so delicious, I want a lot more!”
Lisi – “It’s not bad, it tastes a little better than my grape tylenol!”
Kat – “I’m not a huge fan of grape…”
Sisi – “It’s so yummy I want the whole tube!!”

Nigi Nigi Osushiyasan

Kisa – The rice part is Banana, and I am not sure if they use real banana (which I am allergic to) in their banana candy, but I gave it a chance anyway. I don’t like the flavor of the gummy tops (either peach or lemon) mixed with the banana. Since Cid loved them, I gave the rest to him. They were hard to get out of the package, but cute anyway. If they have a type without banana, I would love to try them later!

Cid – Likes it and ate all but one and a half of them.100_3655

photo 2 (4)Fortune Telling Candy PuchiPuchi Uranai

Kisa – I checked my fortune about hobbies! I got an X which means I am not good at or with! 🙁 Which is true, I need to work on getting better! I had a little yellow candy, which is pretty good.

I am average at patience with a triangle. The candy is red but doesn’t really have astrong flavor one way or another. Oh.. it’s kind of bubble gum flavor??

Lisi – Checked her fortune with about Makeover’s and got a circle! which means she is Great At them!!

Cid – Checked his fortune with Dates… and he got double circle meaning excellent! The candy was blue and he said it’s veryg ood. “But it doesn’t really taste like blue.” Whatever that means…

He also got Excellent at love! “Love tastes like bananas!” The yellow candy must taste like banana.

You can read about this Japanese candy in better detail on the Japanese Treats blog!

Kit Kat Pudding (Baked)

Yes, you bake these before eating. Or eat as is. I decided to bake them. I’d actually bought a bag of these in Seattle, and hadn’t used them, meaning I had enough to bake for everyone to try!

Kisa – Surprisingly really good! I didn’t think it’d taste as nice after baking. I too think of white chocolate and marshmallow when eating these.
Cid – “It’s like white-chocolate Marshmallow. Really good!”
Kat – “They look like toasted marshmallow! They taste kind of like… coffee?”
Sisi – “Look like Masrhmallow, they taste like graham crackers, but tastier!”
Var – “It tastes like I really really good, white chocolate Kit Kat, COOKED!”
Lisi – “Tastes like really bad cream.”

Soda Candy:

These come in a total of five different flavors! Japanese candy sure does like to do soda type of candy from what I’ve noticed!

Cola! (Brown)

Cid – “Cola flavored jelly bean! I like them!”
Kisa – “It’s okay, a strange cola flavor if you ask me. They’re like gum, but kinda like a jelly bean.”
Lisi – Wont eat it because she doesn’t like it.

White Grape! (Green)

Cid – “It’s really good, America needs more white grape soda. Since we have none!”
Kisa – “I really like this one, I see the grape flavor but I like it. ”
Lisi – “It’s a little better, it’s like green…. soda…?”

Super Cider! (Light Blue)

Cid – “I can taste the artificial sweetner in this one, but once you get past that it’s really good.”
Kisa – “It’s really strange at first. You know, these remind me of skittles! I like this flavor, it’s kind of lemon to me.”
Lisi – “This is good!”

Grape! (Pink)

Cid – “Not very much grape flavor, but still good on its own.”
Kisa – “I didn’t get a very strong grape taste, but that’s GOOD in my book. Very nice flavor.”
Lisi – “It’s good, I ate it all!”

Orange!

Cid – “Definitely orange flavor! Tastes good, is nummy.”
Kisa – “I think because I had the Don Don Yaki crackers so much, it’s harder for me to notice these flavors. But I like it.”
Lisi – “They all look like jelly beans!” Lisi didn’t like it.

There you have it! Another round review of some Japanese candy! Do any of them sound particularly good, or bad, to you?
