Rock N Learn Preschool ‘Ready For School’ DVD is full of great stuff! This 30 minute DVD covers counting, tying shoes (a great thing considering Lisi can’t tie shoes even though she’s in the first grade… eeks.. mom fail?), being neat and tidy (I think all my kids need this, letter printing, and more.

This DVD is for children ages 2-5 and there are more of the PreSchool line for the same ages. This DVD is a fun introduction to things a child would learn in PreSchool and would be a great resource for homeschoolers and those trying to get their little ones ready for starting Kindergarten in the following fall.
The DVD starts with getting ready in the morning and counting buttons on a shirt. The character tells how he gets up, gets out of his Pajama’s putting them away before he gets dressed for the school day. All this happens during a catch little song that will keep little ones entertained and interested in what is going on.
A problem comes up when the character can’t tie his shoes, we’re quickly pulled into being taught how to tie shoes bunny ears style. Which is shown more than once with instructions and a little song to go along. This will be a perfect section to show Lisi over and over again in hopes that she’ll finally get tying her shoes. I’ll admit I’ve never done the bunny ears way, but this should be helpful indeed!
Alphabet review and work on writing lines and loops on paper help with teaching how to have better handwriting before starting school. The DVD also shows how to carefully write each letter of the alphabet and encourages kids to pause the DVD when they come to a letter in their name and to write a page of the letter to help them learn.
Lots of repetition and catchy music are the key to learning in this DVD, and we all know that repetition and music are something kids love. Otherwise they wouldn’t play musical movies over and over and over again hmm?
I can’t wait to have Lisi and Var take a look at this DVD, even thought they’re already in school, there are points on getting ready, being tidy, and working on handwriting that I think will benefit them both. I wish I had known about this DVD when they were both little, it would have been so valueable!
